You may call me a freak

I was raised by freaks.
I was raised by the fat, by the immigrant, by the coloured.
They taught me that as I should set my jaw against the world, as it set its against me.
What concern of my alterhumanity was theirs’?
What concern of my madness was theirs’?

I was befriended by freaks.
I was befriended by the fat, by the mad, by the immigrant, by the coloured, by the impoverished, by the youth.
They taught me that as the world turns its back on me, so too should I the world.
What concern of my alterhumanity was theirs’?
What concern of my handicapped nature was theirs’?

I stand hoof in paw with the freaks.
The handicapped, the alterhuman, the fat, the mad, the immigrant, the coloured, the impoverished, the unemployed, the youth.
They have taught me how to always get the last kick, never a lamb to the slaughter.
What concern of mine is theirs?
What concern of theirs is mine?
So yes, you may call me a freak.
I am a freak.
For together in solidarity, we will liberate ourselves.
We must liberate ourselves.
